Fundamentals of Classical Art

Instructors

This is a fundamentals class meant for artists of all levels of development and experience. The main focus is to teach the foundations of traditional drawing and painting. The curriculum consists of two tracks of study.

Track 1: Still Life Drawing and Painting- for beginners

Using a simple still life set up, students will learn to execute these steps, in order:

• basic line drawing
• 4 value pencil drawing
• a grissaile painting (-black and white) in 10 values
• a full color painting

Track 2 Atelier Intensive- professional artist track

•Cast Drawing and Painting (pencil, charcoal, and oils)
•Bargue Drawing Copies
•Figure and Portrait lessons from Old Masters, great contemporary artists and illustrators

Track 2 is designed to prepare artists to study Portraiture and Figure Drawing and Painting

This program also offers an uninstructed workshop on Tuesday afternoons, from 2-5pm.
