After graduating from Rutgers University in 1987, she continued her study at the School of Visual Arts inNew York City where she earned her BFA with honors and was awarded the prestigious Rhodes Family Award for Outstanding Achievement.
It was at the School of Visual Arts where she met John Frederick Murray, the teacher that would become her mentor, teaching her drawing, painting and picture making skills as they were developed by the old masters. Nanette Fluhr has been featured in exhibitions at the Art-trium, the American Artist's Professional League, Inc at the Salmagundi Club in New York City, the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club at the National Arts Club in New York City, the Hudson Valley Art Association, the National League of Pen Women, The Art League of Nassau County, The Lever House, The School of Visual Arts, The Art League of Long Island, The Huntington Arts Council and the Hutchins Gallery at C.W.
