The Alla Prima Portrait - Oyster Bay

Kristin Künc, Instructor

Monday evenings 6-9pm

This class will concentrate on teaching both the basics and finer points of painting a traditional alla prima portrait from life.

Künc will demonstrate her own painting method: careful observation of the model to achieve an accurate likeness, a fusion of open and closed form techniques and maintaining a freshness of brushwork throughout the process. Künc will also demonstrate the range and versatility of an extended earth palette.

The process will begin by painting in a line drawing, followed by the application of more opaque paint.
Ms. Künc will offer personal critiques during the development of student paintings. She will also discuss the influence of Old Masters such as Sargent, LaTour, Eakins, Velazquez and Van Dyke as inspiration for her professional practice. This class will allow you to be quick, accurate and have fun while you work.

Class size is limited to 12 students, to insure a high quality learning environment
