Classical Still Life Techniques
Day : Monday
Time : 10:15-1:15pm
Instructor : Devin Cecil-Wishing
Fall Session 1 • Sept 11- Oct 22
In this Classical Still Life Techniques class students will learn how to arrange and paint full color still life paintings. We will begin by executing a clear line drawing so that we can acheive accurate shapes and proportions in our compositions. We will then transfer the drawing and discuss how to approach a painting, step by step, so that students can see the entire process and gain confidence.
Time will be spent covering value and color relationships, basic color theory, how to convincingly depict light and form, how to render different types of materials and general paint handling. Time will also be spent talking about materials and setting ourselves up for success in our paintings.
For intermediate to advanced artists, this class will be a great opportunity to push your skills to the next level.
Important- Prerequisite Class required:
New students must take at least one session of any of our Foundations classes. There are several of these classes on our schedule throughout the week, each with a slightly different emphasis. Foundations can be taken at the Teaching Studios of Art or we also accept the equivalent class at another school. If the latter option, please send a few images to our director at firstname.lastname@example.org prior to registering. Please contact him if you have any questions..
