Figure Drawing Workshop
Time : 10-1pm, 2-5pm
Instructor : Rob Zeller
Saturday- Sunday, Aug 5 & 6th
2 Day Workshop
This Figure Drawing Workshop is designed for artists of all levels of experience. If you have wanted to learn more about the figure, but find it overwhelming in its complexity, this is the Workshop for you. In a very simple and straightforward method, Zeller will outline a figure drawing and painting strategy that emphasizes form, structure and anatomy. He will flow the same steps that he does in his new book, The Figurative Artist’s Handbook.
The workshop will cover much material regarding the figure, but will generally follow this outline:
Day 1- Anatomy and Structure, Gesture and Block-In
Day 2- Anatomy and Structure, Silhouette Shadow and Form
There will be some short poses for the first part of the workshop and then one long pose that lasts for the duration of both days.
5 essential concepts will be taught:
1. Gesture and rhythm of the pose
2. Basic proportions and geometry of the figure
3. Blocking-in using anatomy and a specific understanding of light and shadow
4. Modeling form
5. Finishing and refining touches
