Class Starts : July 13
Still Life Drawing and Painting offers a step-by-step approach to the fundamentals of drawing and painting in the classical tradition, and represents the very core concepts of what we do best at the Teaching Studios of Art. A very informative and comprehensive class, students will learn a unified working method that will span the genres of Still Life, Landscape, Old Master Copy and working from the live model for Portrait and Figure. This class is ideal for Portfolio Development. Students are taught various techniques, methodologies and materials that are necessary to build a successful college portfolio in addition to the skills needed for their first studio year in college.
Similar to Foundations of Classical Drawing and Painting- Cast Drawing, students will work on individual projects initially. First, they will block-in a Still Life in pencil, then transfer the drawing to a canvas. They will execute both a value and color study, then proceed to make a finished painting. Students will then repeat this process for a copy of an Old Master Landscape, Figure or Portrait, following the exact same steps. Finally, students will have the option to work from the live model for a portrait and/or figure for 5 weeks.
