Portfolio Development Classes Long Island for Teens and Adults offers a step-by-step approach to the fundamentals of drawing and painting in the classical tradition. The primary focus is Teen Portfolio Development. Students are taught various techniques, methodologies and materials that are necessary to build a successful college portfolio in addition to the skills needed for their first studio year in college.
This program of study represents the very core concepts of what we do best at the Teaching Studios of Art. Students will learn a working method that will span the genres of Still Life, Old Master Copy, Landscape, and working from the live model for Portrait. In addition, on Friday nights, students will learn the very basics of classical sculpture, using low relief (basso-relievo, or bas-relief), where the sculpture projects only slightly from the background surface. Students will work within the framework of a master copy to study a specific composition with only one to three figures.A very informative and comprehensive class, it will allow for the creation of 3-4 pieces for a portfolio every session.
We have run our program for high school students for 8 years in the North Shore area and many of our students have gone onto colleges of their top choice. Our instructors monitor every student’s progress to ensure portfolio requirements are being fulfilled. Please call or email us to schedule a consultation.
