The Classical Figure – Painting Form and Light
Saturday and Sunday, Sept 8th & 9th
Time : 10am1pm, 2-5pm
Instructor : Adam Miller
For artists of all levels of experience.
In this 2 day workshop, The Classical Figure – Painting Form and Light, Adam Miller will teach a method of painting the figure quickly, using a simple palette of colors integrated over a warm ground. We will focus on how to construct the body, starting with the biggest planes first, studying how the light falls across the them. Where is it the brightest? How does the light flow across the rest of the form? We will ignore the details of the figure initially, to get a more harmonious feel across the painting, and finesse them later in the process. Once the biggest planes have been established, we will move onto painting the features with smaller brushes. We will be working in a manner very similar to such Flemish Baroque masters as Peter Paul Rubens and Anthony van Dyck.
Join us for a 12-hour intensive with one of the best figurative artists working today.
