During this class, students will learn how to paint animals in a traditional 2 -step, underpainting/overpainting manner. First, students will learn different methods and benefits of working in an underpainting layer first before beginning the color pass. Second, students will learn how to paint animal portraits in color, with special emphasis on rendering fur textures, and mixing paints accurately.
Students may work from reference images of paintings of animals, photographs of animals, or work from our plaster casts collection of animals.
