The Figurative Core™

Online Mentorship
Custom timeframe per student
Rob Zeller, Instructor
4 tailored, pre-recorded sessions per month. Private live sessions available.

The Figurative Core™ program is designed for those artists who want to develop their own unique artwork. Part of the process of becoming an artist is developing your own creative voice. Artists will work independently on projects that they cultivate with the advice and assistance of the instructor, Rob Zeller, author of The Figurative Artist’s Handbook and the Director of the Teaching Studios of Art. Zeller acts as both mentor and consultant to artists as they develop their original concepts. He encourages creativity on the part of each artist by assigning creative projects from the very beginning.

Depending on the needs of the artist, Zeller will assist with the following:

1. Achieving Focus

2. Figuring out a Direction/Theme for original compositions

3. Understanding that Pictures need both Story and Action

4. Understanding that an artist needs to either use intuition or to do research to tell the stories present their work.

5. Learning that the entire composition needs to work at once, on multiple levels.

The class is designed for self motivated individuals who simply need some guidance in bringing their vision to fruition. It’s ideal for those artist’s who wish to develop more conceptual pieces, or in creating a body of creative work that is not necessarily academic in nature.

For projects in this class, artist’s are encouraged to work out of their own imagination, as well as utilize outside image references (photos, Old Master paintings, literary sources, etc) to develop their own unique imagery and narratives. Originality and re-interpretation of source imagery is emphasized to fit the artist’ narrative.
