AN ONLINE WORKSHOP OVER TWO SATURDAYS
May 22 & 29
Time: 11AM-1PM , 2- 5PM EST
Instructor: Roberto Osti

The Human Figure can be one of the most satisfying subjects to draw or paint, but in can also be one of the most frustrating if one doesn’t know how to read its beautiful complexities.

This workshop, Anatomy for Figure Drawing, is based on the Florentine Structural method devised during the Renaissance and is designed to give the students a good understanding of the body’s structural aspects and superficial anatomical forms. This knowledge will be directed toward the practice of figure drawing during the course of the workshop. Students will practice copying the figure from photographic references and searching for the underlying anatomical structure.

Description

In this workshop, students will learn to “read” the human form from the inside out, with an understanding of anatomy that results in more accurate and volumetric figure drawing and better control over the pose.

These are some of the topics discussed during the two Saturdays of the workshop:
• basic structural volumes of the figure
• skeletal apparatus and its landmarks
• superficial muscular volumes
•external forms and tonal development of the figure using graphite and trois crayon technique.
