Learning the anatomy of the figure is essential to drawing and painting the figure with accuracy. In Figure Anatomy In Motion For Artists, students will learn a structural, layered method that was developed during the Renaissance to describe essential elements of anatomy and will enable the students to realistically replicate the underlying structure of the body. Such expertise is cultivated not only by mastering drawing techniques and practicing drawing the human form from life, but also by learning to read the many languages and intentions the human body speaks: movement, power, tension or relaxation, friendliness or aggression, and all the rest. These languages can all be understood studying the anatomical, structural, and dynamic aspects of the body and its aesthetic synergies. Using easy-to-understand scales and ratios, students will learn to conceptualize the front and side views of the skeleton with basic shapes, then add detail with simplified depictions of complex bones and joints..
