THIS CLASS IS FOR ALL AGES

In Digital Painting on an iPad-Level 2, students will will build on top of the basics learned in Level 1 about digital painting.  We will translate the principles of traditional drawing and painting into the language of digital media. The instructor will demonstrate and assign more challenging exercises using iPad with Apple Pencil and the Procreate app.

Students will not only learn to replicate the look of traditional materials, but will gain a better understanding of the foundational elements of line, tonal value, and color through the unique tools available when working digitally. Color can be easily broken down into its components of hue, value and saturation. Virtual brushes and other tools can be changed to suit the artist or designed from the ground up.  We will follow a painting process using a separate layer for each step which allows for the flexibility and freedom to make changes to the drawing or color at any stage.

We will complete several introductory projects over the six weeks, including perceptual painting from observation, and copying a great work of art from one of the Old Masters.
